Glenn Beck's Tribute to President Hinkley

My wife showed me this yesterday morning and I thought it was a terrific tribute to a wonderful man. As you may or may not know President Hinkley passed away Sunday night at the age of 97. Like Beck I did not find myself upset but rather at peace with his passing. President Hinkley truly was a great man and prophet to the member of our faith and to the world.

I had no clue up until this tribute that Glenn Beck was also Mormon. Anyway, here's the tribute enjoy.

Big Day For Mitt

I've had my moments of political intrigue in the past, but I never considered myself a concerned, knowledgeable political follower, even though I know I should have been. That is until this year. There is so much at stake and the issues at the heart of many campaigns will have a huge impact not only on America but on my family. With issues such as the economy, healthcare, immigration and the war taking center stage on the news and in the campaigns it's no wonder I've taken notice. It also doesn't hurt that part of my job is to watch the news closely everyday.

My views have always been, and unless something drastic happens, will always be from the conservative side of politics. Although the republican party appears to be down and divided I still think that a candidate with the right set of beliefs, intelligence and experience can help families just like mine and get this country back on the right track.

It just so happens that in my opinion we have such a candidate running now in Mitt Romney. Not only does Mitt have the knowledge and experience of leadership in turning around a bad situation, like the Olympics, but he also has the same strong moral values that my family strives to live by. I am a member of the Mormon church and to that end I know intimately the values that Mitt follows. Now I know that people will argue that values alone should not guide you to voting for a candidate, and I agree (take senator Harry Reid for example). Well I also took the time to take a great political quiz that gives you your best candidate based solely on the issues. Duncan Hunter (out of the race) came in first with 81% match of my answers follow immediately by Mitt with an 80% match. Now throw in the honesty, integrity, moral fiber and strong family values that are required to be a strong member of the Mormon faith and you have a perfect candidate for me.

Now on to what I actually started this post to mention.

Today is the Republican primary in Florida. For those who don't already know the current polls show Romney and McCain in a very tight race in a state that could significantly shape the remainder of the primaries. Old mo would certainly be in the winners corner going in to Super Tuesday on Feb 5th. Florida is a winner take all state meaning all 57 delegates goes to the winner while the rest of the pack walks away with nothing. Many speculate that this will be the end for Guiliani and yet another nail in the Huckabee coffin should he lose.

One key item to note in the Florida primary is that cross party votes are not allowed. That means that the independents and the democrats are not able to cast votes for the Republican candidate. This was not the case in the two states that McCain has already won South Carolina and New Hampshire. No matter how you slice it, it is clear that McCain is not a conservative candidate and that the Democratic party wants nothing more than McCain to win this election. Why else would McCain get key endorsements from the likes of the New York Times. Not to mention the three key bills he is known for McCAin Feingold, McCain Kennedy, McCain Leiberman or his past interest in crossing over parties and hist past interest in being John Kerry's running mate. This is an effective web ad by Romney outlining McCain's democratic tendencies and support.

Well only time will tell as the polls close tonight at 8:00 pm est. It's been said by several of the liberal biased media channels that "If McCain wins in Florida, his status as the national front-runner will be cemented." and "If Romney comes out on top, the battle for the GOP presidential nomination will be up in the air." I just have to snicker at a statement like this. If Romney wins he would clearly be the front runner for the GOP presidential nomination as he would have won 4 state primaries (3 being key states), more than the two won my McCain. He would many more delegate votes than McCain and would have Good Ol' Mo at his back heading into Super Tuesday. But the likes of CNN and MSNBC want people to believe that the race is up in the air with the hope that McCain can win and go on to be slaughtered by the democratic nominee.

Ok I'm done for now. Good Luck MITT!!!

Carter

I wanted to make a quick post and let everyone see the latest picture of our youngest boy. Carter is about to be 8 Months old on Feb 5th. He's the best little boy. You will usually find him smiling and happy, which is exactly what we need since his two big brothers (pictures to follow later) are constantly keeping mommy and daddy busy. Anyway here's a picture of our blue eyed boy from last week at his Grandma and Pa's house. Out of all our boys he looks the most like his mommy, with his blue eyes and blond hair. I've even started noticing that he looks to be following in her foots steps by favoring his left hand for most everything. I won't complain at all, i mean seriously, have you checked the market for left handed free agent starting pitchers these days.

Why Tarheelsuperman?

I've been using tarheelsuperman for quite a while now as an online nickname so to speak. Usually when I give out my tarheelsuperman email address to someone they don't say anything but there is this akward pause like where the heck did that come from. Occasionally someone will actually ask me the origin. So to clarify for anyone who even cares...tarheelsuperman was thought up out of a need to create a user nick for an online game that a bunch of guys from church started playing after everyone's kids went to bed one night a week. That's when it started probably 5 years ago. What made me think to use it is actually a combo of things.

1. My last name is Steelman....Superman was the man of Steel.
2. I was born and raised and lived all my life in the great state of North Carolina, the Tarheel State.
3. My favorite college team growing up and to this day is the North Carolin Tarheels.

So there you go you put those things together swizzle your wordage and bam, Tarheelsuperman.

There's no hidden superhero complex behind the nickname. I'm quite the opposite of extraordinary when it comes to life. By day I'm a mild mannered employee of a financial company, father of 3 boys, and husband to the most loving, sweetest, caring, and wonderful woman heavenly father has put on this earth. By night I spend my time being a father, a husband and a provider. But after the kids go to sleep... everything changes, faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locamotive, look up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane, it's...who am i kidding. After kids go to bed my wife and I are so exhausted we end up watching tv, playing video games and surfing cyberspace. Thats as exciting as it gets folks.

Website Signature Designs

I began playing around in Photoshop early last year and it quickly became something I loved. It allows me to be creative which actually serves as a stress reliever. The graphic designs below are signatures designed for forum user posts. Alot of internet forums allow users to post an image at the bottom of every message that a user posts. Those images are usually representative of some aspect of the forum user. Whether it's their current obsession, favorite team, or family photos. Some of the below signatures were designed for other forum users. Some were designed as part of a forum signature contest and some were designed just because I wanted to do something creative. Regardless of why they were created these are some of my favorites.
